About Me

Hi, I’m Bishnu Baliyase

I’m an Identity & Access Management (IAM) professional, cybersecurity practitioner, and technology enthusiast, passionate about simplifying complex topics across IAM, Cloud security and AI.

But my technology journey didn’t start in IT— it started much earlier.

From the Air Force to Cybersecurity

I began my journey in the Indian Air Force in 1994, completing my training in 1996. During my time there, I worked extensively with Electronics and Communication systems, which gave me early, hands-on exposure to how technology powers critical and high-stakes operations.

That experience sparked something deeper—curiosity.

I became increasingly interested in understanding how systems work, how signals flow, and how technology can be made secure and reliable. Around 2006, while still in the Air Force, I began transitioning to IT, building my foundation step by step.

The real transformation came when I entered the corporate IT world in 2014.

It wasn’t an easy shift—from a structured defense environment to a fast-paced enterprise IT landscape. But the mindset I developed in the Air Force—discipline, resilience, and problem-solving—helped me adapt and grow.

Over time, my curiosity evolved into expertise.

I wanted to not just understand systems—but secure them, govern them, and make them scalable.

That’s what led me to the world of Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Cybersecurity.

My Work in IAM & Cybersecurity

Today, I work in the Identity & Access Management domain, helping organizations design, implement, and govern identity systems in complex enterprise environments.

My key focus areas include:

  • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and hybrid identity
  • Active Directory & ADFS
  • Identity Governance & Administration (IGA)
  • Cybersecurity and Zero Trust architectures
  • Privileged Access Management (PAM / PIM)
  • Authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect)
  • Emerging topics such as AI-driven identities and agent governance

At its core, my work is about solving one of the most critical questions in cybersecurity:

Who should have access to what—and why?

Why This Blog?

Working in IAM and cybersecurity, I noticed a gap.

Most resources are either:

  • Too basic to be useful
  • Or too complex to be practical
  • AI responses are also not reliable

So I created this blog to bridge that gap.

Here, I aim to:

  • Simplify IAM, Entra ID, and cybersecurity concepts
  • Share real-world implementation experiences
  • Provide practical insights, not just theory
  • Explore how AI is reshaping identity and access management

My Approach

I believe:

  • Identity is the new security perimeter
  • Simplicity is key to effective cybersecurity design
  • Governance is as important as technology
  • Real-world experience matters more than theory
  • Continuous learning is essential in IT

And most importantly:

You don’t need to know everything to start—you just need to start.

Beyond My Day Job

Outside my professional work, I’m passionate about:

  • Personal growth and mindset
  • Digital knowledge sharing
  • Helping others build careers in IAM and cybersecurity

I like to describe myself as:

IT Professional by profession, Skillpreneur by passion

Final Thought

This blog is more than just technical content.

It’s a reflection of my journey—

👉 From the Indian Air Force to enterprise IAM

👉 From curiosity to expertise

👉 And from learning to sharing…

If something here helps you to:

  • Understand IAM better
  • Solve a real problem
  • Or take the next step in your career

Then it has served its purpose.
